★「ホーゥド　アウト　オン」“hold out on (someone)”、意味は「（誰々に）かくれていい目をみている」、とかマフィアの言語では「（誰々のものを）ねこばばする」ということ。英語でパラフレーズすると、“using or enjoying something secretly, without offering to share.”。マフィア言語の方は、“secretly appropriating money that belongs to the boss or the organization.”例文としては、 “I thought we didn't have any more cookies, but it turned out that Sis was holding out on us!”「もうクッキーはないと思っていたら、姉ちゃんが独り占めにして、かくれて食べていたんだ」。 マフィア言語の方の例文は、“You've got to turn in all that money.  If the boss catches you holding out on him, he'll kill you.”「おまえはその金全部渡さないと、ねこばばを親分に知られたら殺されるよ」という具合。
